Match3D Coarse Extension

In addition to the Match3D Tool, SAL3D incorporates an extension Coarse Alignment tool for the prealignment of far COP's. This tool reduces the alignment restrictions of the Match3D tool, both in translation and rotation. In that case, instead of using the sal3d::Match3D, sal3d::Match3DCoarse (...) functions can be used.

However, to get a good matching, the Coarse Alignment tool requires most points of COPs correspond to a common surface. In addition, this tool has some limitations in case of symmetries.

When model and part COPs are located one close to the other, it is recommended the use of Match3D without coarse, because this is constrained to a local solution.

Possible sources of misalignment:

• Too many non common surfaces.
• Some object symmetries.
• Different resolution along the surface.
